I loved this book of bodyguard/chauffeur who is working to pay for law school and his client a billionaires CEO's daughter who does everything she can to draw him out and hopefully become friends, okay she wants to be more than friends, she is a adorable and feisty and doesn't live off a trust fund but works her butt off at a job far removed from her dad's world. I floved Chase so
hard, he tortured himself trying to decide the right thing to do but I loved how even when she made him mad or hurt him he still always put her and her safety first, he's definitely book boyfriend material and for those of you thinking this is some sweet love story, the sex scenes are off the charts! The dialogue is feisty and intelligent and more than just a little hot, the story has a great pace, it has action, hot ex military boys with guns, mafia guys with guns, kidnappings, a relationship repaired, this will make you laugh and cry and wish you had a guy like Chase! This is a MUST read!

Julia Cooke is a hard worker. It doesn't matter that his father is rich and famous. When her life may be in danger her father hires CEP (Citadel Executive Protection) services. Chase Murphy becomes her bodyguard. Too bad Chase is not interested in her because Julia likes what she sees.

Chase Murphy works for his father in CEP. He has great brothers and a great friend. He is studying to become a corporate lawyer and needs the extra money. When he meets Julia, he knows he must keep it professional and for two years he was able to.

One kiss is about to change it all.

My thoughts

I liked Julia, she was independent, funny and smart. She believed in herself and was surrounded by great friends. Her relationship with her father was not the best but she didn't dwell on it.

Chase was a true alpha male. I loved him but sometimes I wanted to scream at him. Let me rephrase, I wanted to scream at BOTH of them. They acted like children but, in the end, I was happy where the story took them. I did love their banter.

I'm very intrigued about the rest of the guys and I believe they all deserve their own book.

I know this was Harper's debut novel and I wanted to read it because I'm a huge fan of her True Love series (Discovering Us and Finding Us). Also, her second CEP novel came out recently and it's on my tbr.
I wanted to like this book, and the five star reviews made me hopeful, but it's just really poorly written. The writing is more stream of consciousness from the perspective of a couple different characters and their personalities are really annoying. There is no real description of setting besides indicating what kind of building or car someone they're in. The characters are really immature and the only basis of their connection lies in mutual physical attraction and supposedly what they've learned of each others' personalities over the last two years, but we are never shown exactly what they've seen of each other. We have to assume that the characters know each other and just accept the hero saying he likes that the heroine is a "smartass" and "hot" and the heroine saying the hero is "hot." That's literally the depth of their relationship and really the depth of their characters. I'm rating 3 stars because the author obviously put work into the book, it's just amateur.
Don't be confused with my title. The story in itself was clearly written in complete details by the author. Good job to her. The title was just me wishing there is more to Julia and Chase's story. I simply cannot get enough of them.

Julia's character has been painted clearly by the author as someone who doesn't live on her dad's wealth but on the contrary is a very independent woman who likes earning her own worth. In fact, she despises it when her dad overreacts to keep her safe. However, this protection is the very thing that brought her in the hands of the man who will provide her not just the safety but the care and love she usually seeks from her dad. Don't get mislead that she is seeking for a father figure in Chase. For Chase is a thousand miles away from a father image. He is tough in the outside but sweet and soft in the inside, but only for Julia.

Their love story did not happen overnight. In fact it took them 2 years to succumb to their attraction towards each other. And when they did, it's like a roller coaster ride for the two of them. Julia sometimes acted immature but this appeared cute and added just the right amount of zest in the almost serene life of Chase. The witty banter of these two characters also added to the liveliness of this book. Add to that the realistic setting of the story and you have the perfect book.

I strongly recommend this book and I just hope there is more to tell of Chase and Julia's story but the author was able to seal the happy ending complete with a bow.
This book is hands down AMAZING. The banter between Julia and Chase will draw you in and make you laugh, cry, angry at times. Their characters are so well developed and the monologue between them is written to perfection. I've read this book several times and feel just as intrigued with the story as I was the first time I read it! It's got action, romance, comedy, and danger and it is one of my favorite books! Harper Bentley you rock!
